Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of your confidential (2) despatch of 31st

March, 1939, transmitting copies of the Hong Kong

Naval Defence Order-in-Council, 1939, and to inform

you that I have caused the Order-in-Council to be

published and now await your approval of the terms

of the draft bill to amend the Naval Volunteer

Ordinance, 1933, and provide for Naval Defence which

was forwarded with my confidential despatch of 4th

October, 1938, before the bill is introduced to the

Legislature.
